A Journey Into Clay
Join me on my journey into the fascinating world of clay! I discovered my love for pottery in 2017 while on vacation in Arizona, and I’ve been hooked ever since! To enhance my skills, I decided to pursue formal education in ceramics under the guidance of the talented Trudy Golley at Red Deer Polytechnic in the Fall of 2020. I attended Red Deer Polytechnic for four (4) years until December of 2023. I feel privileged to have been taught by Trudy, who is an internationally renowned ceramic artist with an impressive CV and who creates absolutely stunning work.
I am constantly pushing the boundaries of my craft by experimenting with various techniques & delving deeper into the realm of glaze technology. While I tend to focus on sculptural & decorative pieces, I also enjoy creating functional ware with a quirky twist.
I specialize in creating unique slab-built pieces, experimenting with textures, designs, box moulds & making my own decals & stencils. Currently, I am creating my own under-glaze transfers, using slip trailing & other textures to enhance my surface decoration. My true passion lies in making & testing my own glazes to ensure each piece is truly one-of-a-kind.
I currently work out of my semi private studio and showcase my ceramics out of Flux Studio in Red Deer. I’m excited to continue honing my craft and exploring new techniques in the world of ceramics.
Follow along as I navigate the highs and lows of my creative process and witness the discoveries I make along the way. If you happen to be in Central Alberta, Canada, you can take a look at my shop and “Spy Before You Buy” by making an appointment to meet at my studio.
